Trail to the Klondike Trail to the Klondike by Don McCune
In the brutally cold winter of 1897-98, 100,000 people, drawn by the glitter of chance and fortune, stampeded north to the gold fields of the Yukon. In 1969-70, Don McCune retraced the Klondikers' trail with a camera crew. Trail to the Klondike features more than 120 photographs, including evocative images from gold rush photographer, Eric Hegg. Hegg's images are paired with those of the McCune crew to provide a "then-and-now" portrait of the Trail to the Klondike.

Whittier sits at a fascinating historical crossroads, traveled for hundreds of years by natives, traders, explorers, gold rushers, the U.S. military, and now visitors from all over the world. The area surrounding Whittier and Portage pass had significant roles in the expansion of Russian America, the Alaskan Gold Rush, World War II, and the Great Alaskan Earthquake of 1964.
Farallon: Shipwreck and Survival on the Alaska Shore Farallon: Shipwreck and Survival on the Alaska Shore by Steve K. Lloyd
Courage, fortitude, faith are all embodied in the human spirit brought to life by Steve K. Lloyd in this well executed account of the castaways of the Farallon. Ship-wrecked in lower Cook Inlet, Alaska in January, this inspiring tale of survival is one not to be missed.
