CONNECTICUT COUNTIES

There are eight administrative divisions, referred to as counties, in the state of Connecticut. The population figures given below are from the 2000 census. You may list the counties by county name, by area in square miles, by year organized or by population by clicking on the column headings or using the pull-down list box.

"Connecticut is divided into geographic regions "called" counties, but they do not have functioning governments, as defined by the Census Bureau."1 Without governing organizations, each Connecticut county serves as a census area.
